Local distributors and importers of non-SA wines

 

Often these also (or only) sell directly to consumers – though usually there are restrictions like having to buy at least a (mixed) case. Many deal, therefore, with a select list of direct clients.

This list is probably far from comprehensive, so please advise Cathy van Zyl if you’re an importer who'd like to be listed, or if you know of an importer who should be given here.

Great Domaines represents a handful of French regions – Burgundy, Southern Rhône and Champagne are the mainstays of its business.

Has been importing Italian wine and food, as well as select delicacies from other European countries, since 1993. • NMK Shultz Global Brands

Currently has a very short list of imported stock, most impressively Taittinger Champagne, but the relationship with the global Fosters group could change all that.

• Reciprocal Wine Trading Company

This is the oldest specialist fine wine importer in South Africa. Active for more than 25 years, its agencies and French wine sources comprise many of the best known growers and negociants. Its French focus includes extensive Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhone listings, as well as wines from the Loire, Champagne and South Western France. Reciprocal also imports from several Spanish appellations, and has a limited list of German, Italian, Australian and New Zealand wines. Wine accessories include Riedel glassware.
