Two Wine mag stars the ultimate accolade? 27 October 2006

From Samantha O'Keefe, of Lismore Estate Vineyards

When I grow up, I want 2.5 stars from Wine magazine.

As a struggling, aspirant boutique winery (OK, 'garagiste' probably best describes us now), I am starting to get the impression that when our wine is bottled, labeled and ready for release, the highest form of compliment will be for our wine to be granted a 2 or 2.5 star from Wine magazine.  This will put us in the illustrious company of Vergelegen, Bouchard-Finlayson, Ataraxia (Kevin Grant), various Eben Sadie releases, and many other winemakers/wines I highly respect and, in fact, quite enjoy.

'2.5' is the new '5' I say.

From Tim James:
I think Eben Sadie is also aspiring now for 2.5 stars, having received a mere one star  in the magazine for his latest vintage of Columella. I wish you luck.
