The American connection  27 March 2007

Following some discussion occasioned by the Widow's remarks about Vilafonté's claim of being the first US-SA joint venture in wine, we have the following further comment.

From Jake Easton and Samantha O'Keefe:
Nothing really much to say about much of the much-ness being said... simply piping up to put our name into the hat as far as ex-pat American's giving the whole grape growing/wine making thing a bash. We bought on the edge of the Riviersonderend mountains in 2003 and planted in the same year. We established Lismore Estate Vineyards the same year and made cidre francaise (from apples sourced in our valley) and wine the year following, 2005.

And, please let's not forget the Nash family in Paarl, certainly considered an SA-US blend. Besides, their wine is absolutely unforgettable.

All our best from the mountains without end,
