The ‘chenin king’ moves on 27 February 2008 Teddy Hall leaves Rudera mid-harvest
With Teddy Hall as winemaker and viticulturist, Rudera Wines had remarkably quickly established itself, since 1999, as a leading local producer. Now Hall has announced that he has severed all contact with the property, and will not be making the 2008 wines. The move, he says ‘comes as a result of the dissolution of his partnership and breakdown of his marriage to Riana Hall’. Hall left Kanu Wines half a dozen years back, after establishing them as a leading producer of chenin blanc, and did the same at Rudera. His reputation as a maker of chenin is great. He will now be concentrating his rule on his already established ‘Teddy Hall’ label, in addition to consulting for some prestigious producers. No information has been offered as to who is managing the current harvest at Rudera. Links:
